AIRPLANE FLIGHT MANUAL To: All Gulfstream IV Operators Subject: GIV AFM Revision 30 dated 11 October 2002 This revision has two main purposes. The first is to incorporate a new emergency procedure, Fuel Leak In Flight. This procedure will help pilots determine the location of the fuel leak and take the appropriate actions to stop the loss of fuel or lessen the severity by moving the fuel out of the system with the leak. The second is to revise both GIV-SP and Non-SP Appendix E, Adverse Weather/Abnormal Atmospheric Conditions holdover tables for deicing fluids. These tables were updated to reflect the latest guidance from the FAA regarding cold weather operations and operation in icing conditions. The remainder of the revision contains minor changes and cleanup as a result of input from the training providers and GIV operators. Thank you, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation AIRPLANE FLIGHT MANUAL To: All Gulfstream IV Operators Subject: GIV AFM Revision 29 dated 30 May 2002 This revision has three main purposes. The first is to add the new FMS software level NZ6.X and the Honeywell Publication Number for the software. The second is to add the procedure for Use of the Rudder In Flight. This procedure is being added as our response to the NTSB recommendation, and the FAA letter requesting OEM’s to add this information to the AFM. The third concerns the inclusion of removing cabin and galley electrical power as a probable source for cabin fire/smoke. Several aircraft performance changes have been included in this revision. There are several new Maximum Allowable Takeoff Gross Weight Permitted By Takeoff Climb Requirements charts as a result of now being able to use Takeoff Thrust for 10 minutes for single engine operations. (The old limit was 5 minutes.) This change also impacts the Distant Obstacle Clearance charts and the Reduced Thrust (Flex) Takeoff tables in the AFM appendix. The Performance Computer will still calculate takeoff data based on the original five minutes at takeoff power. Gulfstream will update the Performance Computer for the new ten minute takeoff performance sometime in the future. Until then, to take advantage of the new capability, crews will have to do manual calculations. Finally, we have included 2 new charts that enable operators to determine acceleration distance from V2 to VSE at 1500 feet AGL (Above Ground Level). The inclusion of these latter charts will now enable operators to compute obstacle clearance when obstacle heights are greater than 1500 feet AGL. (The FAA only requires the AFM to determine obstacle clearance when obstacle heights are less than 1500 feet AGL.) The remainder of the revision contains minor changes and cleanup as a result of input from the training providers and GIV operators. The first is to add the reference to the CD 820 and the associated pilot’s manual in the Limitations section. The second is to update references to RNP0.3 approaches in the Limitations section and to modify the RNAV procedures in the Normal Procedures section. The RNP0.3 approaches are now coded as also being GPS approaches. The requirement to monitor the GPS navigation mode or to delete DME/DME updating for these approaches is no longer required.
